Fantastic win on Derby Day - Sunday, June 06, 2010

Bertoliver flys in at Epsom
  BERTOLIVER wins the Dash

On what was to be the hottest day of the year we sent off Bertoliver nice and early on his way to Epsom.  He was to take part in the hotly contested sprint race the 'Investec Dash' the race that preludes the Derby.  Stuart arrived at the track early as did Mr & Mrs Shone to avoid any traffic problems.  After checking on the horse and the track conditions, we sat down and began to enjoy the atmosphere and build up that the 120,000 strong crowd provides on arguably the best days racing in the world.

Bertoliver who is a 6yr old Bertolini gelding had bottom weight and was ridden by Jack Mitchell.  Stuart told Jack that the horse was well and to make sure that he left the stalls running and make sure you get over to the rail!  Jack did exactly that and Bertie did the rest he was the clear leader 2f out  and gallantly kept on inside the final uphill furlong despite the favorite Hawkeyethenoo trying to close down on him in the final strides.  This is the second time we have won this race in the last 4yrs after Hogmaneigh won the race in 2006.

Mr & Mrs Shone are great owners to have they really are genuine and caring  passionate racehorse owners and it is a privialige to train for them.  They where absolutely delighted and thrilled it was indeed a great day to remember.

Bertoliver has come out of the race well and is enjoying a few days off in the paddock!
