Newmarket meeting - Friday, May 21, 2010

  ZIGGY LEE, THE STRIG AND RAIN ON THE WIND.

 

We certainly had an exciting time at the recent Newmarket meeting, it started off on friday when we sent The Strig out to try and win the same race that we were disqualified from last year with Ziggy Lee (after he bumped the second horse and was subsequently placed second).  The Strig raced alone down the centre of the track after Stuart and William both agreed that this was where the best ground lay.  The Strig was the overall winner and we looked to have it won when he just drifted in the last stride and was beaten a short head!!  William said it was just unlucky and he is still a little green.

 

RAIN ON THE WIND was our next contender and he ran a great race.  William settled the grey gelding in front.  The race was run over a mile and Rain On The Wind led throughout and was just passed inside the last furlong but stayed on well to place third.

 

So finally came Ziggy Lee on the saturday.  The race was a 5f sprint race and William held him up towards the rear.  Inside the final furlong William just shook him up a little and sent him to the front to win quite comfortably.  As you can see we had quite an exciting time of it!  Unfortunaltly it didnt continue over to the Sunday where we had Deportment running in a listed race in Germany.  The ground unfortunalty dried out considerably and instead of being good to soft which was ideal for us it changed to firm which was not!!
